Home Energy Saving Tips

Energy Saving TipsFor every homeowner who is struggling with his monthly budget, looking for ways to save energy is essential. There are plenty of home energy saving tips you may have heard of already. Perhaps some of them have worked out for you, but in some cases, there are people who simply don’t feel or see any effect or change on their energy bill.

If you are still looking for ways to save energy to reduce your electricity bills, check out the tips below that might just help you out.

1. Install insulation in your home.

Insulation is known to be effective in making a home more comfortable and reducing energy costs. This is because it helps trap heat or cold inside the structure. You don’t have to use the AC as much during the summer or the heater as much during the winter season. Note that insulation is best installed by expert contractors. Improper installation may not help in energy efficiency at all and will just be a waste of money.

2. Use a solar attic fan and/or try other solar products.

The attic fan is still one of the most reliable ways to ventilate and keep the attic area cool, especially during the summer season. For average-sized homes, one attic fan is enough. You can consider installing a solar attic fan so that there would be no operating costs. It uses solar power, which means it won’t consume electricity at all.

There are also other solar products you can try such as sun tunnels, solar lights, solar AC, and many others.

3. Unplug all electronics that are not used.

This is one of the most common tips you must have heard of already. When you’re not using appliances and other electronics, make sure they are unplugged. They still consume some energy when they remain plugged in even when you’re not using any of them.

4. Install window screens so you leave windows open.

Especially if you live in an area where it’s warm most of the year, install screens so you can leave windows open most of the time. When windows are open, your home will receive natural air and light winds from outdoors. By installing screens, you are able to keep pests and insects out. In addition, keeping windows open during the daytime will also let natural light in, which lessens the need to turn on lights all the time.
